Deep Tissue Massage
When people hear the term "deep tissue massage," they often conjur up images of a muscle-bound therapist using elbows and very firm pressure to force the body to let go of its knots. They imagine leaving such a massage covered in bruises and feeling like they have been put through a meat grinder. My version of deep tissue massage is much gentler than this and will help to restore mobility to your tight muscles.
Deep tissue massage is simply a combination of techniques that allow the therapist to address deep layers of muscle in the body. The body is never forced to change, but instead is allowed to change at its own pace, as it is ready. At times the pressure may feel intense, but it is never injurious and client feedback regarding pressure is always highly encouraged. As firm pressure is applied to areas of tension, deep muscle tissues soften, circulation increases, restrictions release and pain decreases.
